EPA kicks off Copenhagen with greenhouse endangerment ruling

Today, the US Environmental Protection agency announced a formalized endangerment finding for greenhouse gasses, a document that enables the agency to regulate six different gasses as pollutants under the Clean Air Act. For now, however, the EPA will not be establishing any rules regarding their emissions, leading many to speculate that the announcement was timed for the start of the Copenhagen climate talks. The endangerment finding has been a long time coming, as EPA chief Lisa Jackson noted in her press conference announcing the decision.
