The city of Amsterdam has been involved for several years in building Citynet , a partnership between the city and two private investors to wire 40,000 Amsterdam buildings with fiber. And it’s not just fiber, it’s open access fiber—any ISP can sign up to use the infrastructure and deliver ultra-fast Internet access. In 2008, the European Union ruled that the city’s involvement in the project was in fact legal, and that it was not improperly interfering in the market.

This is not good cinematography, this is a splendid idea put in a film! “Ink” is definitely one of the best films released this year. Chances are it will soon become a cult indie film but while comparisons to The Matrix, Dark City, and the likes have been quick to emerge, don’t expect anything as elaborate as that, in terms of effects or cinematography’ expect lots of heart instead! You could say “Ink” belongs to fantasy films but its ‘purpose’ is to affect your very real world (and doubt it) and it damn succeeds.

Sequoia Voting Systems plans to publicly release the source code for its new optical scan voting system, the company announced Tuesday — a remarkable reversal for a voting machine maker long criticized for resisting public examination of its proprietary systems. The company’s new public source optical-scan voting system, called Frontier Election System, will be submitted for federal certification and testing in the first quarter of next year. The code will be released for public review in November, the company said, on its web site.
