Pirate Bay’s VPN Service Goes Public

Ipredator offers safe, encrypted communication between you and the Internet for only $7 bucks a month. Last March I mentioned how BitTorrent tracker site The Pirate Bay would begin Beta testing a new VPN service called Ipredator which would allow file-sharers to download copyrighted material anonymously. The name Ipredator is a spin on the Swedish Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Directive (IPRED) that went into affect last April and forces ISPs to divulge the name of customers suspected by copyright holders of infringement.

FBI Linguist Guilty of Leaking Classified Documents

An Israeli-American lawyer who worked as an FBI linguist pleaded guilty Thursday to providing an unidentified blogger with classified documents derived from U.S. communications intelligence. Shamai Kedem Leibowitz, 39, of Silver Spring, Maryland, pleaded to one felony count of disclosing to an unauthorized party five documents that were classified “secret” that he obtained through his work with the FBI.

Malaysia Plans to Filter the Internet

Will use system similar to China’s “Green Dam” software to block children’s access to “undesirable” websites. Malaysia is the latest country to propose filtering the Internet in order to prevent kids from visiting “undesirable” websites. For late last week it announced that it wanted to test out a system similar to that of China’s “Green Dam” software, the deployment there of which was of course “temporarily” delayed by authorities after public outcry.

Something “Broken” at the Pirate Bay?

Swedish BitTorrent tracker site says it’s “pwr FAIL” not “BREIN FAIL.” The drama never ends at the Pirate Bay it seems and that’s certainly the case with an odd message posted earlier on the site. Visitors were greeted to a picture and message that said it was having some power issues. “Something is broken, we are working on it, check back in a little while! Ok, we have some pwr FAIL.
