Canadian Movie Pirate ‘maVen’ Sent To Jail
Half a decade ago ‘ maVen ‘ was one of the most active movie release groups on the Internet, known for distributing high quality ‘Telesync‘ versions of major blockbuster titles. In the summer of 2006 ‘maVen’ releases suddenly halted, and it later became apparent that the FBI had caught one of its key members. An FBI investigation into ‘maVen’ had been running for some time and was handed to the Canadian Police in April 2006.

Judge sides with MPAA in case against Real Network’s RealDVD software that would allow consumers to make backup copies of purchased DVDs for personal use. Chalk up another win for the MPAA and another loss for consumers. For US District Court Judge Marilyn Hall Patel has issued a permanent injunction against Real Networks DVD-backup software RealDVD.

Bittorrent client maker Vuze , formerly known as Azureus, quietly closed down its P2P porn site StudioHD late last year as part of a bigger restructuring process, according to a company spokesperson. studiohd Vuze had launched StudioHD with licensed clips from a number of porn companies early last year. The site was promoted within the Vuze client, and paying users of StudioHD were asked to download the Vuze software to access HD porn movies.
