PWN Last.fm Makes it Easier to Download Free Music

Greasemonkey script for Firefox adds “Torrents from IsoHunt” section to artist pages. Many people use free music streaming sites like Pandora and Last.fm as quick, convenient, and free alternatives to downloading music either legally or illegally. Not many are aware however, that there’s a handy Greasemonkey script called PWN Last.fm that adds a “Torrents from IsoHunt” section to artist pages on Last.fm, making it easier than ever to download your favorite music.

Google Music OneBox Promoted through Lala Free Downloads

After Google has recently announced the release of its music search service, now one of its partners in the new deal (along MySpace, Lala, Pandora, imeem, and Rhapsody) comes with a second announcement meant to promote the first one – on Tuesday Lala said it would make available several tracks as free MP3 downloads for a limited time. “These tracks can all be found through a simple Google search, and as with all Lala tracks you find through Google, you can preview them full-length from the Lala player. Of course, these tracks are all also available on Lala,” says the company.

Pandora now pushing radio to pay for music, too

The campaign to get radio stations to pay up for the music they play marches on. With revenues from recorded music sales declining, rightsholders have turned their eyes in recent years to commercial US radio, which currently pays songwriters (but not performers or record labels) for the tunes that power their business. The record labels now have Pandora on their side.
