Apple’s ITC complaint names HTC phones, 10 other patents

As we reported, Apple filed a federal lawsuit against HTC Tuesday claiming infringement of 10 of Apple’s patents related to smartphone technology. Apple said that HTC violated 20 of its patents, and the remaining 10 are covered under a parallel complaint with the ITC. That complaint also names essentially every current HTC product as infringing devices.

Sony still subsidizing US military supercomputer efforts

Consumers aren’t the only ones enjoying the PlayStation 3’s recent price drop. The US military has announced plans to buy 2,200 more of the game consoles, so that they can massively beef up the processing power of an existing, PS3-based supercomputer. A “Justification Review Document,” which has oddly been deleted from Google since I found it but is still available at this cache link , explains that, “the new PS3s will be placed in a cluster environment with an existing cluster of 336 PS3s by connecting each of the units’ one gigabit Ethernet port to a common 24 port gigabit hub.”

Computer ‘Glitch’ Grounds Air Traffic

An unspecified computer glitch is being cited as the cause for commercial flights being canceled or temporarily delayed on Thursday. The glitch was related to a key Federal Aviation Administration flight-processing system, according to ABC News . The problems were first reported at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia.

Payroll Site Hacked, Employment Numbers Swell

A payroll processing firm that was breached by hackers last month is warning customers about a new breach, after some clients noticed phantom employees popping up on their payrolls. New Jersey-based PayChoice sent a message to customers Thursday indicating that thieves appeared to have stolen customer login IDs and passwords by exploiting a vulnerability in the website feature for changing a password, WashingtonPost.com reports. PayChoice said it disabled the change password feature until it could fix the vulnerability.
