UK Law Firm Drops “Non-Viable, Non-Beneficial” P2P Cases
However, still warns has batch of “settlement” letters ready to be mailed to alleged file-sharers “early in the New Year.” Earlier this month I mentioned how ACS:Law , a UK-based law firm that “specializes in assisting intellectual property rights holders exploit and enforce their rights globally,” announced that on January 1st it plans to target some 15,000 accused illegal file-sharers across the UK. The plan is part of what it calls its “ revolutionary business model ” that “generates revenue for rights holders and effectively decreases copyright infringement in a measurable and sustainable way” unlike the “costly and ineffective” anti-piracy measures of other companies. However, in a bit of backpedaling to perhaps soften this harsh rhetoric, it now says that it’s reviewed all the cases it currently has open and has decided to drop a “good number” of them.

A payroll processing firm that was breached by hackers last month is warning customers about a new breach, after some clients noticed phantom employees popping up on their payrolls. New Jersey-based PayChoice sent a message to customers Thursday indicating that thieves appeared to have stolen customer login IDs and passwords by exploiting a vulnerability in the website feature for changing a password, WashingtonPost.com reports. PayChoice said it disabled the change password feature until it could fix the vulnerability.

Last week I ran a couple of posts on girls who were contacting me via Twitter , wondering if I wanted to see them naked . Today, I had 17 waiting for me — well, 15, to be exact. Two of them were outright invitations to porn pages, but, bouncing via http://www.my-live-cam.info/, and starting with ‘Lidia Witt’ (right), the remainder pointed to Spark Networks’ date.ca , a “wholly-owned subsidiary of Spark Networks, Inc., a NYSE Amex Company.” And just so you know, “Spark Networks Limited does not conduct background checks on the members or subscribers of this website,” it emphasises in big black letters.

A new anti-P2P campaign will begin in Norway tomorrow. Entitled “Share – Not Steal” the campaign is supported by 36 industry groups including IFPI, TV, movie, games and software associations, along with (at the time of writing) another 1750+ artists, musicians and other copyright holders. The campaign carries a petition which hopes to force Norway’s political parties to show their intentions on unauthorized file-sharing.
