IsoHunt Stuck Behind China’s Great Firewall
China is no stranger to Internet censorship. The country’s Great Firewall includes many well known sites, but up until now BitTorrent sites have never been blocked. There was a short blocking incident two years ago when Mininova, isoHunt and The Pirate Bay were hijacked and redirected to the leading Chinese search engine, Baidu.

The Chinese government is imposing new internet restrictions demanding personal-website operators to acquire central-government permission to operate their sites. The latest censorship measure, which covers .cn domestic domains, comes as Google is trying to convince Chinese censors to ease up. Google said 43 days ago it would undertake a self-imposed exile from China if the government does not back off from requiring it to censor search results.

The Progress & Freedom Foundation (PFF) had some choice words expressed by a study on DMCA notices received by Google. While the posting was very pointed, the authors of the study Thomas Sydnor accused of being “junk science”, as well as the EFF, gave ZeroPaid a response to the many accusations made by the author of the blog posting The posting by Sydnor had plenty of accusations against a Chilling Effects study which was used by Google in New Zealand . It should be known that the PFF is known for being supporters of the RIAA, the MPAA and other organizations that represent a point of view that copyright should be more restrictive.
