Simon Cowell Asks for FBI’s Help in File Sharing Issue
Last month Simon Cowell has taken another step against illegal file sharing with “his first piece of UK political lobbying” – now the music mogul has called in the FBI to stop hackers stealing music produced by his label. Apparently, Cowell’s Syco label, part of Sony BMG, has been the target of many attacks lately, perhaps owing to Cowell’s recent moves against piracy. Alexandra Burke's forthcoming single has found its way to p2p networks, and the same thing happened to the new material from 2005 X Factor winner Shayne Ward.

The Federal Court has today ruled in favor of Aussie ISP iiNet following a copyright infringement case instigated by AFACT, the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft. Last year several studios including Village Roadshow, Universal Pictures, Warner Bros Entertainment, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, Disney Enterprises, Inc. and the Seven Network took legal action against iiNet, claiming that the ISP did nothing to stop its customers from sharing copyright media via BitTorrent.
