The two on the left are obviously a clear and present danger to Hollywood, aka Time Warner, Viacom, Fox, Sony, NBC Universal and Disney. They’re alleged to have camcorded Bruno, “the Sacha Baron Cohen docu-comedy in which an Austrian fashion journalist shoves his flamboyant gayness in the faces and other body parts of unsuspecting Americans”. Well, who wouldn’t have wanted a copy of that ?

Since the debut of broadcast television in this country more than 50 years ago, millions of Canadians have grown to expect free access to local television signals. While the mechanism for accessing those ad or taxpayer supported broadcasts has evolved from rooftop antennae to cable and satellite distribution, access has consistently been free (cable obviously charges for access but it does not pay for carriage of local signals). Last week, Canada’s broadcast regulator issued a decision that will bring the era of free local television to an end for many Canadians.

Two Martinsville brothers have been charged in connection with the camming of the newly released Bruno movie at a cinema in Manville, United States. The police claim the pair had been recording first run movies and selling the copies on the Internet. The prosecutor and police announced that Paul Epifan, 23, and his younger brother Timothy Epifan, 21, had both been charged with theft by deception.
