Prosecutors Set Stage to Appeal Lori Drew Ruling

Federal prosecutors in Los Angeles have filed a notice of appeal in response to the ruling in the Lori Drew cyberbullying case, where a judge threw out the government’s case against Drew for allegedly using a fake MySpace account to drive a teenage girl to suicide. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Krause filed the notice on Friday in the 9th Circuit Court, indicating that the government may appeal a judge’s ruling in July that acquitted Drew of three misdemeanor counts.

Congresswoman Praises Lori Drew Prosecutors

In anticipation of Lori Drew’s sentencing hearing Thursday, Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-California) issued a statement late Wednesday praising prosecutors for their work on the controversial case. “What Lori Drew did was egregious, and it is time that she be brought to justice,” Sanchez said in a statement designed to draw attention to recent legislation she introduced.
