An panic investigation to find out who leaked tens of thousands of classified documents about the war in Afghanistan to WikiLeaks has been launched by the US military. Said the whistle-blower site on Sunday > > > 25th July 2010 5:00 PM EST WikiLeaks has released a document set called the Afghan War Diary, an extraordinary compendium of over 91,000 reports covering the war in Afghanistan from 2004 to 2010. The reports, while written by soldiers and intelligence officers, and mainly describing lethal military actions involving the United States military, also include intelligence information, reports of meetings with political figures, and related details.

The document-leaking site Wikileaks says it’s preparing to release 500,000 intercepted wireless pager messages from a 24-hour period encompassing the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Site operators say they plan to start rolling out the texts beginning at 3:00 a.m. New York time, paced to display as they were broadcast at the corresponding time on September 11, 2001.

However, in a move that in political doublespeak is being hailed as a ‘victory’ for consumers, and at the 11th hour, the clause, which would have protected people from the depredations of the Hollyood and the major record labels, has been drastically watered down.
