Circumvent NBC’s lock on US coverage and its misguided refusal to show the events at the London 2012 Olympics live. If anybody had concerns about Comcast’s acquisitions of NBC UNiversalt  then the London 2012 Olympics is a perfect example of the pitfalls of a cable provider owning a content provider. NBC Universal’s lock on US coverage has given it complete control to determine where and when events air, and Comcast’s singular focus on cable subscriptions fees has further reduced those options so that unless you subscribe to a separate cable or satellite connection you’re likely experiencing what everyone has come to call  #NBCfail . Nearly all the events are tape delayed with no options for alternative free programming one would expect from a major broadcaster like NBC Universal. There is a solution though that many have been option for and only takes a few minutes: a VPN connection. A VPN is a “virtual private network” with “virtual” encrypted connections routed through the Internet to remote servers. The data traveling between you and those servers is encrypted, and the IP address that will appear while surfing or downloading content from the Internet will be that of the server and not your own.
