World’s oldest blogger dies, aged 97

Maria Amelia Lopez, arguably the world’s oldest blogger, has died in Spain, where she was introduced to the online world by her grandchildren only two years ago. Her posts, “touched on many aspects of her long life, from political memories of the Franco era to intimate musings on her increasingly fragile state of health,” says Times Online , going on: “Mrs Lopez blogged from the seaside town of Muxia, where she was born in 1911, or from the farmhouse in Galicia belonging to her grandson, Daniel.” Her first post, which went up on her 95th birthday,read: “Today it’s my birthday and my grandson, who is very stingy, gave me a blog,” says UTV . A later posts reads, “Since that day I’ve had 1,570,784 visits from bloggers from five continents who have cheered up my old age,” says the story.
